Is Fast Food The New Tobacco?

Is Fast Food The New Tobacco?

It’s incredible how all the food that we consume somehow gives us side effects. I was surprised hearing how bad the food I eat daily is and even the foods that I thought were healthy, aren’t. I realized that every food can lead to long term sickness. In the article “ Don’t blame the eater”. I agreed with a statement that said “shouldn’t we know better than to eat two meals a day in a fast food restaurant?” because of how we know the consequences that it could lead if we eat out a lot, especially junk food. Nobody should get blamed because of the food that people consume on their own will. It even mentioned how kids wanted to sue the mc donalds company because of how it’s causing them to look. McDonalds is one of the main fast food companies where a lot of people visit and eat from but nobody is being forced to eat from there. Society eats what they want and also knows what they are taking in their body.

In the second article of “What You Eat Is Your Business” it states how nobody should be responsible for the food choices others have. Like the title says whatever a person eats it should only concern them and not others around them. People can’t force others to eat certain foods unless they actually want to.Before placing an order at any restaurant, the person should read the back of it or even ask questions to make healthier choices. It states “ It only becomes a public matter when we force the public to pay for the consequences of those choices” I agree with that because as a person we are free to eat anything we want; we could eat mcdonald's all day or junk food in general but that’s us knowing the damages it can cause and still doing it. Many people can tell the difference between healthy foods and junk food and can prevent themselves from gaining weight from certain foods.

As I was watching Michelle Obama’s youtube video I kept agreeing with everything she spoke about because of how accurate it is. One thing that stood out for me was when she mentions how her life was when she was younger. For instance, she tells us how most of the time or at least all the time she would eat at home which made the food more natural. By natural, I mean most of the fruits and vegetables were freshly grown in the backyard. The foods before didn’t contain any type of chemicals inside of them which makes it healthier for people to eat. She mentions how there was a lot of discipline from parents which plays a big role in the health of their child. Parents didn’t spoil their kids with the foods they want instead of the food that was being cooked at home. She also states how there were always vegetables in every food plate they had. I don’t encourage parents to force their kids to eat vegetables or healthy foods but it would make things better if they do persuade them to eat everything they get and not let them go out to eat fast food all the time. That plays a big role in helping their kids manage their style of eating.

Lastly, I never knew about the documentary “ What The Health” but once I started watching it, I started to learn information I never expected. The guy mentioned how his family has problems with diabetes and his father passed away at a young age. He even started to take care of his health a lot because he felt as if he was going to go through the same thing since he thought it was genetic. In a way, yes but the person decides how they affect their health by the kind of foods they eat. I knew meat wasn’t healthy but the way that it was described, such as it being like cigarettes, surprised me. Diabetes isn’t just sugar, it’s mostly all about meat. There were even foods mentioned that I thought were healthy but it results that it isn’t. It brought my attention as to how the guy wanted to gain information as to why the websites were encouraging people to eat certain foods knowing how it can damage their health. People should research and be more careful about what they eat.
